Slum Survivor is a simulation experience designed to help connect people with the lives of the world’s poorest. By spending some time the way a billion spend a lifetime, eating a limited diet and facing tough challenges and choices you’ll seek to both raise funds for - and awareness of - the poverty and people that live in the world’s slums.
All the money raised through sponsorship goes to the work Soul Action support in poor communities around the world.
What is Slum Survivor?
Slum Survivor is a simulation event that aims to both raise awareness of poverty and raise money for change. Typically, over a weekend a youth group will build shelters, eat a limited diet, face challenges and spend time reading the Bible, connecting both their minds and bodies with the reality of poverty.
Who is slum survivor for?
Slum Survivor isn't for everybody. It can be quite a grueling challenge with a limited diet, so it's usual for participants to get tired and dirty. Those who take part have to abide by certain rules that limit their choices, possessions and freedom. So, if you're thinking of running an event make sure everyone involved knows what they've signed up for. Saying all that over 240 churches have run a Slum Survivor, so it is fun too!
