When faced with issues of poverty and injustice it's easy to feel pretty useless.
When the statistics say that a two thirds of the world's population live on less than $2 a day it's a pretty overwhelming problem to try and do something about.
But we can do something. We can pray.
And we can act.
Whereas other sections of our site are about action and physically doing something, this section is about taking the issues to God, as it is only Him that can bring a real lasting solution to some of the world's biggest problems.

what to pray for...
One of the things that Soul Action does is to support projects in poor communities across the world. We do this by not just giving money, or sending volunteers, but by praying for the projects themselves.
Projects around the world...
You can take a look at the kind of projects that we support financially and through the sending of volunteers at this section of our site (GO>>). Have a flick through the descriptions of what they do and pray that God would continue to meet people's needs through their ongoing work. Pray for the people they serve and the communities of which they are a part! Have a gander: GO>>
Noise/social action projects in the UK...
Have a look through the Noise/social action projects listed on this section of our site (GO>>). There are people all over the country acting in their communities, so take a look at what they are doing and spend time praying for them.
If you're involved in a specific project make sure you register and update your details regularly so that current information and progress is available. Check them out: GO>>

Prayer ideas and tips...
Some of us find it really hard to connect with God through prayer. It can feel sometimes like we're just talking to ourselves and it's easy to get distracted. But don't worry, if you feel like this, you're not alone!
We've created a few very simple prayer tips you can scan through and take on board to help you out. Have a look and check out the resources at the bottom of this page!
Pray on your own...
Spend some time on your own, focussing on God and listening to him. Work out which time of the day you're focussed and alert - for some it's the morning, others evening - and just spend time thinking through some of the issues you've seen on the news and giving them over to God.
Pray with friends...
Some of us struggle to stay focussed praying on our own, so get together with some mates and pray for each other, your community and the world. Hold each other accountable for personal prayer times and support each other as you make the effort.
Pray through scripture...
Grab a Bible and search out some of the stuff on justice (like Isaiah 58v6-12). Read over it, meditate on it and make the passages your prayers.
Go on a prayer walk...
You don't have to pray with your eyes closed... go on a walk! Take a look at the area you live in and as you wander round pray for the people, places, problems and situations you see. Ask God to guide you to pray for specific areas or issues too (and see where you end up!).
Get a paper...
Get a decent newspaper (not like the Sun!) and read through some of the stories from around the world. Unfortunately, most of it is likely to be bad... so as you read the articles, simply pray for God to intervene in situations and bring peaceful resolutions to problems.
Don't get too stressed if you find it hard...
Importantly, don't stress out if you find it hard. God loves us and longs to build a relationship with us, praying is an amazing way to do that, but if we make it a chore, we'll hardly be connecting with God's love for us and His world! Try and relax and make it natural. The following might help.
Make it normal...
Make your prayers normal, not long and wordy, but how you'd speak and explain yourself to your mates. God is the awesome King of All, but he's also our friend and he wants to connect with us, not a pretend version of us. Just be yourself and express the stuff that worries and hurts you... he loves it when we ask Him to help us deal with this stuff, so ask, and expect a response.
Make it a daily thing, like cleaning your teeth...
Pray daily, like cleaning your teeth, brushing your hair or taking a shower. Maybe try and fit ten or twenty minutes into your daily routine and extend it as you go. See how you get on.
